Microdermabrasion, also known as microderm, is one of the easiest and most effective anti-aging treatments you can get. Its benefits are many: microderm softens fine lines and wrinkles, helps to smooth coarsely textured skin, decreases the appearance of scarring, decreases pore size, and reduces superficial hyper-pigmentation, also known as age spots. Microdermabrasion also makes it easier for professional skin care products to penetrate into the deeper layers of the skin and help build collagen, which gives skin its youthful appearance.
At Plum Natural nail & Skin Spa, we utilize the safe, effective diamond microdermabrasion technique. A diamond-tipped wand is used to resurface and exfoliate while gentle suction helps stimulate cell turnover and collagen production. One of the advantages of microdermabrasion is that it has no downtime. You can return to your normal routine and apply cosmetics directly after treatment.
While one microderm treatment will help with exfoliation and provide a smooth, beautiful glow, for the best results treating the appearance of fine lines or hyper-pigmentation, multiple treatments are generally recommended. Your esthetician can recommend the number that is appropriate for your skin type and condition*. A typical protocal is six treatments about 10 to 14 days apart.
Skin is cleansed and degreased before a full facial microdermabrasion treatment. Hydration therapy and UV sun protection are applied, and you are on your way!
